Can country music ever be as popular globally as hip hop ?

Author: admin  //  Category: hip hop music

OK, so I was watching the country music awards a while ago, Country music is still king in America, but I noticed, every artist was white. Mostly Americans, with a few Canadians, and Keith Urban who is Australian.

hip hop music is on every continent in different languages like Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Arabic, Korean etc. Everyone dances to the rythmic beats and free expressions.

Can country music ever be as popular as hip hop is, internationally ?

Probably not, first of all it’s very western, much like folk music, it’s kind of a cultural thing. Much like we we probably never become a country of huge listeners to Chinese music. Also, the world seems to prefer the hip-hop stuff, which is kinda sad because even though some of the music is really good I think that a lot of it is trashy, no offense of course that’s just my opinion. Country has it’s trashy stuff too, I just think in general it’s a little better.

I love country but I doubt it, it just doesn’t have the beat which is usually why hip hop is popular overseas and in other languages.

Country music is considered an American art form, so I doubt the urbanites around the world will completely embrace it.

Modern day country music isn’t very good, actually its horrible. Every song is over produced with a "twang" twist to it. The song writing is really corny & dumb. Country flat out sucks, today.

Hip pop is just as bad and is complete garbarge.

To answer your question,..no it will never be as popular. With all the thugs and gangstas in the world, some talentless loser would still be producing it with their electric music sampling beats.

Country artist to me are people like %3

if country music still keeps letting pop music rejects in whenever they want like jessica simpson( i don’t mind lookin @ daisy duke, but i don’t wanna hear her) and others like shedaisy and martina mcbride, then maybe "today’s country" might be as popular.

for me, country needs to stay with George Strait, Alan Jackson, Willie Nelson, Toby Keith, Clint Black, Dwight Yoakam, Chris Young, and Josh Turner. people who are real country.

When hip-hop has been around for 85 years the way country music has, ask the question again.

Country music was so popular internationally in the 1940s that Japanese kamakaze pilots attacked U.S. ships with cries of, "To hell with Roosevelt! To hell with Babe Ruth! To hell with Roy Acuff!" (I don’t hear any reports of Iraqi suicide bombers yelling, "To hell with Bush! To hell with Tiger Woods! To hell with Fifty Cent!")

In other words, country music has already been there and done that.

I’d rather listen to country. And actually, there is a black guy, sorry, i’m not racist but it needs to be put out there truthfully. Darius Rucker. I think it can because people relate to it more, unlike hip hop which I call sex music because that’s what it’s about

Before I answer the question, Keith Urban is actually from New Zealand. His family later moved to Brisbane, Australia while he was still young.

Anyway, country is actually quite popular all around the world. Of course, it is the most popular here in America. You can find people from Australia, Canada, Japan and tons of other countries that like country! Actually, in Australia, there’s a number of modern country artists who just aren’t too well known here in America, such as Shea Fisher.

By the way, I’d say that country already IS more popular than hip hop. Also, country artists–even those who aren’t really country–always seem to be much better to their fans than hip hop artists.
