One of SCR’s signature songs. Written by mandolinist Mike Guggino it’s a tour de force for the entire band. A hauntingly beautiful melody which flows through many tempo and mood changes SCR really shines. Mike Guggino’s masterful mandolin solos, stellar fiddle work from Nicky Sanders; a beautiful banjo break from Graham Sharp, and an exquisite bass solo by Charles Humphrey III will leave you in awe. Good job boys!

Superstrings Bluegrass Music at Carlsbad Flower Fields

SUPERSTRINGS performs “Who Broke the Lock” at the Carlsbad, California Flower Fields Bluegrass Day concert held April 10, 2010.
Superstings, the Bluegrass / Country / Folk group was founded by Bill Frisbie who rounded up 4 of his friends from the very active San Diego bluegrass jam scene. Superstrings is billed as “High and Lonesome meets High Energy Physics”. The name for the band is inspired by the cosmological super string theory that posits that, basically, everything in the universe is made up of vibrating mandolin strings. It sounded about right to them and has been their guiding philosophy ever since. The vast experience of the members (about 200 years in aggregate) comes from diverse influences; from Monroe, Flatt, Scruggs to the succeeding generations of players, from hobo songs and contra dance tunes, obscure fiddle tunes with even more obscure lyrics, rockabilly and miscellaneous. They like to have fun with each other and with their listeners. They actively support local clubs and organizations and like to jam with the many other talented players they have met. http://www.myspace.com/superstringsbluegrass
